
Our dynamic team collectively hosted over 100 meetings during the 16th edition of the SIRC conference, held this year under the theme “Winds of Change”.
Group CEO Talal Al Zain contributed to a panel discussion which debated “Reshuffling the Industry – How Insurers, Brokers and Reinsurers see each other’s Future Roles”. Joining Talal on the panel moderated by Herbert Fromme, Insurance Correspondent of Süddeutsche Zeitung were Jérôme Jean Haegeli (Group Chief Economist at Swiss Re), James Nash (MD at Guy Carpenter), Claudia Salem (Regional Property and Casualty CEO at Allianz Asia Pacific) and Devesh Srivastava (GM of GIC Re).

Trust Re team members joined the annual Baden-Baden Reinsurance Congress, a prominent event in reinsurers’ calendars where the market dynamics shaping the reinsurance sector are discussed alongside topics related to what reinsurers need to do in order to improve resilience.

Kamal Tabaja, Group COO, took part in a panel discussion also titled "New Economic Barriers in Afro Asian Insurance Markets" on the first day of the conference.

The conference brought together experts from the insurance industry from around the world, and its theme for the year was Insurance Penetration in Africa: Insuring the Uninsured.



Trust Re was pleased to take part in the InsurTech & Microinsurance: The Next Revolution conference organised by the Pakistan Insurance Institute, which was held between 14th and 16th April 2019 in Karachi.
According to the organisers, the conference theme was chosen because microinsurance and its delivery depend on technology to fully realise the potential of the social benefits that it brings to the masses, especially in a country like Pakistan.
On the second day of the conference, Trust Re’s Group Chief Operating Officer, Kamal Tabaja, presented the topic “Redefining Micro-insurance” as part of a working session. Trust Re team members Abdulla Darwish, Underwriter – Treaty and Ahsanullah Amanullah, Underwriter – Property were also in attendance.
Conference delegates were from insurance companies, brokers, banks, microfinance institutions and loss adjusters from both Pakistan and abroad.



Under the patronage of Lebanon’s Ministry of Energy and Water, the 5th Lebanon International Oil & Gas Summit (LIOG), took place between 2nd and 4th April 2019 in Beirut. The FAIR Oil & Energy Insurance Syndicate, managed by Trust Re, was platinum sponsor of this successful event, which was organised around the slogan ‘A full stream of insights and opportunities’. Over 550 participants from 28 countries around the world, including top public and private sector officials, attended.

Managing Director – FAIR Oil & Energy Insurance Syndicate and Senior Advisor to the Management of Trust Re chaired the session “Risk Mitigation & the Role of the Insurance & Reinsurance Industry”. The session focused on the inherent operational risks and challenges in the oil and gas industry and the vital role of the insurance sector in the transfer and mitigation of these risks.
Mr. Hajjar discussed “The importance of creating local capacities through Syndicates and Pools”. Contributing to the fruitful discussion were Nadjib Bouzeboudjen, Head of Energy & Engineering Trust Re who presented the topic “The Role of insurance & Reinsurance in the Energy Industry” and guest speaker Mr. George Kabban, CEO of UIB, whose topic was “A blueprint for Insuring Lebanon’s Hydrocarbon Future”. Ahmed Al Mahmeed, Underwriting Manager, FAIR Oil & Energy Insurance Syndicate, participated in the summit as a delegate.
In addition to the conference-registered participants, 50 Lebanese VIP insurance personalities were invited by the Syndicate/Trust Re to attend the session. The VIPs were granted full day passes to the sessions and were invited for lunch, which was sponsored by the Syndicate.

Members of the Trust Re team were pleased to support the 43rd General Assembly of FANAF (Federation of African National Insurance Companies) by attending the event in Tunis, held between 17th and 21st February 2019.
Organised under the auspices of FANAF, in close cooperation with the Tunisian Federation of Insurance Companies (FTUSA) and Tunis Re, this year’s conference had the theme of “What Market Structure to promote the development of African Insurance”.
Sub themes of basic market infrastructure, regulation and supervision, required human capital and financial aspects were discussed during four major panel sessions. Each of these aspects is critical to the transformations in the African insurance industry and its future development. The global participants also benefitted from opportunities to conduct business meetings and engage in dialogue.



Trust Re’s Head of Claims, John Matthews, attended the 8th Annual Insurance Claims Management Conference in Lisbon, Portugal on 24th & 25th January 2019. He took part in a panel discussion which debated the topic "Controlling the Cost of Claims".
Discussions and panels during the conference centred around the fact that efficient claims management is vital to the success of all companies working within the insurance sphere.

Again this year, Trust Re team was proud to participate in the India Rendezvous held at Taj Lands End in Mumbai between 22nd and 24th January 2019.
During the event organised by Asia Insurance Review and co-organised by GIC Re, participants (insurers, reinsurers and intermediaries) gathered to assess the state of the Indian insurance market and the world of reinsurance in India. The theme “Reinsurance: Disrupted” was considered very topical given the technological revolution, the era of disruptive innovation and the latest developments in the InsurTech and FinTech sectors.
As well as being a networking platform for insurers, brokers and reinsurers, the India Rendezvous has also come to be known as a thought- leadership platform since its initiation 12 years ago.
A delegation from Trust Re was pleased to attend the 15th Singapore International Reinsurance Conference (SIRC), which took place recently between 29th October and 1st November 2018 at the Sands EXPO & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
Held under the theme “Reinsurance Reloaded”, conference delegates benefitted from the forum to meet and discuss topical issues and developments in the reinsurance market. Panel discussions and keynote addresses provided opportunities for further insight. Organised by the Singapore Reinsurers’ Association (SRA) and co-organised by the Reinsurance Brokers’ Association of Singapore (RBAS), approximately 1,000 delegates from around the world attended the event.
On the first day of the conference, Trust Re’s Head of Retrocession, Malcolm Fonseca, took part in a roundtable discussion hosted by Global Reinsurance, which focused on the links between Asian reinsurance and MENA business.
Furthermore, on 31st October, at a special luncheon hosted by Trust Re’s Labuan Branch General Manager Kevin Quek, the Company launched its Asia Market Survey “The Outlook for Insurance and Reinsurance in Asia”. Guests attending included members of the broking community, business partners and media.

With the theme “Spreading your Precious Ideas”, the rendezvous aimed to provide a unique opportunity for participants to benefit from the experience of different markets, in order to develop the Egyptian insurance industry. Participants totalled around 2,000 experts from the insurance and reinsurance field, with at least half coming from abroad. Discussions also centred on the challenges and opportunities in the Egyptian insurance and reinsurance markets.
Trust Re’s Group Chief Operating Officer, Kamal Tabaja, participated in a seminar called: Best practices and the neoteric of Global Industry “International Insurance Trends and Best Practices” alongside 4 other leading industry professionals.

A large delegation from Trust Re Group, representing Trust Re, Trust Insurance Management, Afro-Asian Assistance, the FAIR Oil & Energy Insurance Syndicate and Oman Re participated in the recent 32nd General Arab Insurance Forum (GAIF) conference.
Held under the high patronage of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Tunisia, in Yasmine Hammamet between 24th and 27th June 2018, the conference was held under the theme “Digital transformation and the Insurance Industry in the Arab World”. Several sessions throughout the conference, led by distinguished speakers, were delivered with the aim of examining how the insurance and reinsurance industry must engage in the digital revolution in order to better serve its clients and to ensure its own sustainability.

Trust Re was pleased to be golden sponsors of the 29th SorS conference held recently in Sarajevo, Bosnia. Taking place at Hotel Holiday from 6th to 8th June 2018, this year’s edition of the conference focused on “Education and Training – Key Foundation of Insurance Development”. Topics such as: the role of education in corporate venturing in insurance, the role of education in development of new products in insurance, education of insurance products consumers and current tendencies and processes in actuarial science and insurance development, were explored.
Included in the near-200 participants were representatives from Trust Re’s Cyprus Branch Office: Sinisa Lovrincevic – Cyprus Branch General Manager, Daniel Stanko – Senior Underwriter, Treaty and Theodoros Sofokleous – Deputy Underwriter, Treaty. Daniel presented “Investing in Human Capital at Trust Re” and both Sinisa and Daniel took part in round table debates (Cyber risk and Motor respectively).

The annual forum gathers more than 400 participants from over 20 countries, including representatives of all major European insurance and reinsurance companies. Participating at this year’s edition in Bucharest, from Trust Re were Sinisa Lovrincevic, Cyprus Branch General Manager and Domenico Esposito, Head of Surety Underwriting. Sinisa took part in a debate on the 2nd day of the forum called Reinsuring Nat Cat Risks Conference.

Trust Re was delighted to attend the 45th African Insurance Organisation (AIO) Conference & Annual General Assembly, which was held between 6 and 9 May 2018 in Accra, Ghana.
The conference brought together close to 1000 experts from the insurance industry from around the world, and its theme for the year was “Innovation, Risk, and the Future of Insurance in Emerging Markets”.

Trust Re’s Group Chief Operating Officer, Kamal Tabaja and Head of Claims, John Matthews attended the Onshore Energy Conference, Dubai which was held on 25th April 2018 at the Ritz Carlton DIFC under the theme “Considering a different landscape”.
In the capacity of moderator, Kamal introduced the morning sessions which were titled “Geopolitics as disruptor-in-chief for businesses in the Middle East”, “Blockchain: game changer or just another tech trend?” and “What does 2020 mean for the MENA Region? – Being Relevant is Being Prepared”.
In the MENA Claims Experience session, John gave a presentation “Middle East Claims Handling – The Route to World Class?” and participated in a panel discussion.



Trust Re was pleased to take part in the Willis Towers Watson China Renewable Energy Conference, held between 13 and 15 March 2018 in Hangzhou, China.
Melbourne Fonseca, Underwriter – Alternative Energy at Trust Re delivered a presentation entitled “Sustainable Risk Transfer for a sustainable future: adapting to change”. Melbourne’s presentation included an overview of Trust Re and its capabilities in the Renewable Energy sector. He also covered other topics, including the One Belt One Road (OBOR) project, which is estimated to generate several billion dollars in insurance premiums up to 2030, and discussed the current and future state of renewable energy in China. Focus was given to the risk management challenges associated with the various means of renewable energy production.
Jacky Xingchen, Trust Re’s Regional Manager for Greater China took part in a panel discussion about the opportunities, issues and solutions of the Renewable Energy Industry, the corresponding risk management and insurance support. Also debated was the role an international broker can play in order to promote the healthy development of this industry.
Sharing knowledge and participating in such initiatives is an integral part of Trust Re’s value-added services provision.
Trust Re team was proud to attend the Marsh Energy Industry Conference (EIC) held between 6th and 8th March 2018 at the Westin Dubai, Al Habtoor City. Formerly known as the National Oil Companies Conference, this year’s edition of the forum brought almost 600 delegates from 46 countries together to consider and debate key areas of risk under the theme “Rebooting the Risk Agenda”.
On the second day of the conference, Kamal Tabaja, Group Chief Operating Officer, Trust Re, was part of the Insurers Panel. Chaired by Dean Klisura, President, Global Placement & Specialties at Marsh, the panellists discussed critical areas of risk with emphasis on natural catastrophes, frontier technologies, process safety culture, cyber, big data, economies in emerging markets and climate change.

A delegation from Trust Re was pleased to attend the 2nd edition of the Dubai World Insurance Congress (DWIC) held on 27th and 28th February 2018 at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai.
The Company was one of the platinum sponsors at the event, co-hosted by Global Reinsurance (GR) and the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). Also in attendance with Trust Re were representatives from its subsidiaries Trust Insurance Management and Afro Asian Assistance, as well as from its partner company Oman Re. FAIR Oil & Energy Insurance Syndicate was also in attendance at the event.
More than 500 attendees from 35 different countries availed of the excellent opportunity to network, and of the business and thought leadership opportunities.
On the first day of the conference, Trust Re’s Head of Surety Underwriting, Domenico Esposito, participated in one of the (Re) Insurance Labs by giving an informative presentation about the potential for innovative thinking in Construction Insurance for the Belt and Road Initiative.

Held between the 17th and 19th January 2018 at the Taj Lands End Mumbai, this year’s event was co-hosted by GIC Re and Asia Insurance Review with the theme “The New World of Reinsurance in India”.
The annual conference is a trusted platform for both insurers and reinsurers to meet and discuss matters related to the Indian insurance and reinsurance markets, as well as wider developments such as InsurTech and FinTech.
Approximately 600 delegates attended the Rendezvous. India continues to be an important market for many companies, as exemplified by the decision of larger overseas players to set up in the country.

During the 28th meeting of Insurance and Reinsurance companies, SorS 2017, held in Sarajevo, Bosnia between 7th and 9th June, Trust Re was gold sponsor.
Trust Re team’s representation included Cyprus Branch General Manager, Sinisa Lovrincevic who delivered a presentation titled “Emotional Intelligence in the Business Environment”. The main topic of this year’s edition of the conference was “Implications of the Application of Solvency II and its impact on the Insurance Industry” with the subtopics of:
- Implications of Solvency II Implementation and Its Impact on the Insurance Industry and,
- Experiences of Solvency II Implementation in Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia.
SorS conference is well known for being one of the largest gatherings of insurers in the former Yugoslavia region, with around 200 participants taking part annually, to discuss and learn about trends in the industry.
FiAR has gained an excellent reputation over the years as the foremost CEE and CIS springtime event dedicated to the insurance, reinsurance and private pensions markets. With more than 400 participants from more than 20 countries, attendees benefit from numerous bilateral meetings and knowledge-sharing from an esteemed panel of speakers.
Trust Re team’s representation included Cyprus Branch General Manager, Sinisa Lovrincevic and Hasan Tabaja, Underwriter - Facultative Property. Sinisa delivered a presentation titled “Emotional Intelligence in Reinsurance Business Environment”.
Topics included:
• Driving insurance penetration: Developing affordable, need-based products and building an appropriate delivery systems including bancassurance.
• Sustainable agriculture through agriculture insurance.
• Developing effective consumer education models.
• Accelerating financial inclusion through regulation – a case for harmonization of Insurance Regulation?
The African Insurance Organisation was established in 1972 in Mauritius to develop a healthy insurance and reinsurance industry in Africa and to promote inter-African co-operation in insurance.

The presentation regarded major Energy developments which have been focusing on so called "Energy Corridors". These developments create significant change in many political, economic and commercial aspects but also provide opportunities for the insurance sector. Kamal's session explored this interesting subject and provided context for the insurance opportunities.
The OEC brings together insurance professionals from across the oil, petrochemical and power sectors and follows on from an acclaimed inaugural conference in 2016.

Representatives from Trust Re included Cyprus Branch General Manager, Sinisa Lovrincevic who participated in a plenary discussion titled “Paths of Development for Insurance and Reinsurance Market”.
Mr. Lovrincevic presented some key findings from a study “The Outlook for Insurance and Reinsurance in Central and Eastern Europe” commissioned by Trust Re; the study also covered CIS countries and Russia. Commenting, Mr. Lovrincevic said "the region has difficult markets, challenged by several issues, most of them originating in the low level of tariffs. Moreover, economic prospects are not necessarily the most optimistic amid declining oil prices or depreciating exchange rates of the local currencies”. Crucially, he highlighted that "governments should invest in insurance, to boost market growth, to increase demand for insurance products. There is a need of significantly investing in education, so that citizens become aware of the role and benefits of insurance. "

Constantinos Hadjigeorgiou, Group Corporate Services Officer at Trust Re took part in a moderated Q&A session with fellow market practitioners during the launch event.
On the first day of the conference, attended by approximately 500 senior insurance executives from across the globe, Trust Re’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Fadi AbuNahl took part in a panel debate. It focused on identifying the key disruptive trends in (re) insurance and developing a culture to achieve innovation goals.
Additionally the Congress featured “Global Insurtech”, a segment providing access to firms shaping the future of insurance and exploring the impact of disruptive innovation. Furthermore, ‘Innovation Labs’ were a series of sessions showcasing innovative thinking in insurance such as Artificial Intelligence, social media trends, big data and analytics, machine learning and the implications of the Internet of Things.
Dedicated networking areas at the Meeting Hub and Lloyd’s Coffee House provided delegates with plenty of opportunity to network and do business.

During the recent Baden-Baden Reinsurance meeting held between 23rd and 27th October 2016, Trust Re was one of four proud recipients of the 2016 XPRIMM Award for outstanding contribution to the development and evolution of the insurance and reinsurance market.
The award was presented to Mr. Sinisa Lovrincevic, Cyprus Branch General Manager, Mr. Hasan Tabaja, Underwriter – Facultative Property and Mr. Georgios Paltidis, Deputy Underwriter – Treaty, all representing Trust Re.

Award contenders are those professionals, companies and players who are active in the re/insurance segment and who distinguish themselves by outstanding contribution to the development and evolution of the insurance and reinsurance markets in which they operate.

Trust Re is proud to announce the launch of its white paper “The Changing Global Energy Landscape – Opportunities and Challenges for Energy Underwriters” at the 28th EAIC (East Asian Insurance Congress) in Macau.
To mark the occasion, the company held a special luncheon on 12th October to which a select group of international business partners and specialised media representatives were invited. The presentation of key themes from the paper, produced in conjunction with the renowned Dr. Schanz, Alms & Company AG in Switzerland, was delivered by Trust Re’s Mr. Kamal Tabaja, Group Chief Operating Officer and was preceded by a short summary of Trust Re conveyed by Mr. Yazid Bitar, Head of Corporate Communication.
This follows the Presentation of the paper to a separate audience at the recent FAIR (Federation of Afro Asian Insurers and Reinsurers) Reinsurance Forum held on 20th and 21st September in Limassol, Cyprus.
Commenting on the white paper launch in Macau, Mr. Tabaja, Group COO said “The key themes of the paper, including global Energy demand by source, sector and supply, an overview of global energy and power insurance markets and a changing risk landscape are of particular relevance in these times of economic uncertainty and challenging market conditions for reinsurers”.
Mr. Bitar, Head of Corporate Communication said “We were delighted to partner with Dr. Schanz, Alms & Company for the second year in a row; this follows the successful production last year of our first white paper, “Adopting Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) in high-growth Insurance Markets: The Trust Re Experience”.

The forum was opened with a welcome address from a number of dignitaries: the Chairman of the Organising Committee, the FAIR President, the FAIR Secretary General as well as a Guest of Honour.
During the first plenary session entitled “Oil & Energy Reinsurance Markets: Trends & Outlook”, two of Trust Re’s executive management were speakers, namely Mr. Nabil Hajjar, Managing Director of FAIR Oil & Energy Insurance Syndicate and Senior Advisor to the Management and Mr. Kamal Tabaja, Group Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Tabaja presented Trust Re’s recently produced white paper “The Changing Global Energy Landscape: Opportunities and Challenges for Energy Underwriters”.
The second plenary session was titled “Reinsurance Strategies under Solvency II”. A workshop on “Communication Role in Mitigating Risks in Emerging Markets” was held. Participants also benefited from a number of bilateral meetings.

Last month, Trust Re participated in the seventh edition of the Azerbaijan International Insurance Forum (AIIF), as an official partner and speaker. The AIIF, held on 23rd and 24th June at the Boulevard Hotel in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan is widely accepted as one of the foremost events in the Caucasus region for insurance and reinsurance professionals. More than 200 participants from over 20 countries in the Caucasus Region, middle Asia, Europe, Turkey, Russia and CIS took part this year.
Trust Re was represented by Sinisa Lovrincevic, Cyprus Branch General Manager, Hasan Tabaja, Deputy Underwriter - Property and Eray Karatepe, Deputy Underwriter - Engineering. Sinisa Lovrincevic presented "How can the reinsurance market support the insurance market's development and diversification” in a session which preceded a panel discussion, in which he also participated; it covered various topics including Reinsurance for the Caucasus - ratings, availability, financial sustainability, Reinsurers' strategy in the region, Are the insurance companies in the region adequately covered? and Benefits & drawbacks of the soft international market.

The SorS conference is the largest gathering of insurers in the ex-Yugoslavia region, whereby each year around 200 participants gather to exchange experiences, meet in person and explore trends in the insurance profession. The theme of this year’s conference was “Innovation as a precondition for development of the insurance and reinsurance market” with subthemes: Innovations in development of existing and new services of insurance companies, Management and distribution of insurance services in the context of innovation application and Innovations in law or legal regulation in insurance.Since establishment, SorS has hosted many world-famous companies, which reconfirms the prestige and importance that this meeting has in the insurance industry. Trust Re was represented by Sinisa Lovrincevic, Cyprus Branch General Manager, Georgios Paltidis, Deputy Underwriter, Treaty and Slobodan Drinjakovic, Deputy Underwriter - Property, Facultative.
On 9th June, Sinisa Lovrincevic presented "The Outlook for Insurance and Reinsurance in CEE’’ and on the last day Sinisa participated in the round table discussion regarding "Reinsurance Professional Liability" led by Mr. Zlatan Filipovic of Bosna Re.

As in previous years, the event was completed by numerous networking opportunities and several bilateral meetings.

Mr. Lovrincevic took part as a speaker in a round table discussion focusing on the topic of 'Nat Cat and Reinsurance'. Taking place at the Shangri-La hotel on May 18th, the event welcomed insurers, reinsurers and brokers and addressed issues and challenges specific to onshore energy from the insurance, technical, claims and legal point of view.
Key note speakers who are well-known in the sector contributed to an educational and networking event. Trust Re’s Chief Operating Officer, Kamal Tabaja, chaired a panel which discussed “A Decade of Regional markets — Development & Sustainability”.

A team from Trust Re, including the underwriting and marketing team responsible for Africa, the Company’s Morocco Representative Office General Manager, and members of its subsidiary company Afro Asian Assistance, participated in the recent 43rd AIO Conference and General Assembly.
Held in Marrakech, Morocco, from 8th to 11th May under the high patronage of His Majesty Mohammed VI, King of Morocco, the conference had the theme of “African insurance amidst current and emerging challenges”.
The organizing committee included the Moroccan Federation of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies “FMSAR” and the Société Centrale de Réassurance “SCR”.
In the recent XXth Annual Reinsurance Conference held in Moscow between 6th and 7th April 2016, Trust Re was represented by Georgios Paltidis and Natalia Khaylova from the Treaty Underwriting team.
Trust Re was proud to be a partner in this conference which had the theme of “Reinsurance is a Vector of Positive”, and was run under the aegis of the All-Russian Insurance Association and was co-organised by Business Format Group.
The conference brought together over 260 participants including senior level delegates from the fields of insurance, reinsurance, brokers and loss adjusters from almost 20 countries in Western Europe, the Middle East, Central and Southeast Asia.
Discussions over the course of the two days were wide ranging and included analysis of national and international reinsurance markets, prospects for the development of national capacity and regulatory matters.
The Trust Re team took part in the speaker panel, in the discussion called “Reinsurance of CAT and Terrorism risks. Pools and their potentials”.
Also in attendance was Trust Re’s subsidiary, Afro Asian Assistance which provides Travel Assistance and Personal Accident products.
Hosted by the Qatar Central Bank and the Qatar Financial Centre Authority, and organised by the international insurance media brand, GR, Multaqa Qatar is widely regarded as one of the MENA region’s leading risk and insurance forums, aimed at senior executives and decision makers.

This year, more than 800 delegates took part.

Organised jointly by GIC Re and Asia Insurance Review, the India Rendezvous has come to be seen as one of the major events on the Asian insurance calendar, bringing together more than 650 delegates from Indian, regional and international markets. This year, the India Rendezvous focused on the theme, “The New Realities in Reinsurance” with the subtext “Creating a Reinsurance Hub in India.”

Approximately 250 people took part in the event, representing almost 100 companies from 21 countries: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bahrain, Belarus, Great Britain, Germany, Georgia, India, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Panama, Poland, Russia, Romania, Syria, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, France, Switzerland and South Korea.
Participants benefited from the chance to effectively conduct meetings and negotiations.

Organised by the Tunisian Federation of Insurance Companies (FTUSA) in cooperation with GAIF and Tunis Re, the Carthage Rendez-vous was held under the theme, “Insurance, Investment and Development.” The biennial event attracted more than 500 delegates from Tunisian and MENA markets.
During the conference, Trust Re hosted meetings at its exclusive meeting room and delivered a study on the African markets titled ”African Market Outlook.” The study was presented in French by Morocco Office General Manager, Mr. Samir El Mouaffek. Another presentation delivered in Arabic was given by Mr. Mourad Hammami, Head of Compliance, covering “Compliance & the Fight against Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing.” Both presentations were well attended and well received by the audience.

During the course of the three day conference, 2nd to 4th November 2015, held at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Singapore, representatives from Trust Re’s Bahrain Head Office, Malaysia Branch Office and FAIR Oil and Energy Insurance Syndicate – managed by Trust Re - attended over 120 meetings.
In total, more than 1,000 delegates attended, taking part in bilateral meetings and making the most of networking opportunities.
On the second day of the conference, Trust Re launched its ERM paper “Adopting Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) in High-Growth Insurance Markets: The Trust Re experience” at a special breakfast meeting for select clients.

The theme of this year’s conference was “Building on 50 Years of Regional Cooperation”. Several hundred delegates, including leading industry executives and key decision makers from the international insurance and reinsurance markets were in attendance.

The forum, which took place from 4th to 6th October 2015 had the theme of “Contemporary problems facing African insurers and reinsurers”. Participants were provided with an excellent chance to exchange experiences and ideas as well as networking opportunities.
Over 300 delegates from the whole of Africa and beyond attended. Trust Re held a cocktail reception for a select group of clients and partners on 6th October.

Mr. Lovrincevic was one of the speakers on the subject “Reinsurance capacity and new underwriting techniques”. Further plenary and panel discussions, as well as bilateral meetings and workshops, took place during the course of the conference.
The event brought together more than 250 participants from over 25 countries. Senior level managers from insurance, reinsurance and brokerage companies in the Caucasus region, Middle Asia, Europe, Turkey, Russia and CIS were amongst the delegates.

Trust Re participated in the recent International Insurance Forum (IIF) event in Munich. Held on 22nd and 23rd June 2015, this year’s forum was entitled “Property Insurance in a Stormy Era”. It focused on the impact of natural catastrophes in Central and Eastern Europe and Turkey with a day panel on agricultural insurance. Mr Sinisa Lovrincevic, General Manager of Trust Re’s Cyprus Branch Office delivered a presentation on “Property NAT CAT challenges and opportunities in CEE” on the first day of the event.

Organised by the Insurers Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with TECTUS group and its publication, SVIJET Osiguranja, SorS is one of the foremost insurance events bringing together representatives from insurance and reinsurance companies active in the SEE.
Trust Re was represented by Mr. Fadi AbuNahl, CEO, Mr. Sinisa Lovrincevic, Branch General Manager Cyprus Branch and Mr. Georgios Paltidis, Deputy Underwriter. On 11th June, Mr. Lovrincevic presented “Trust Re, Reinsurer of Choice” and on the last day of the conference, Mr. AbuNahl, Mr. Lovrincevic and Mr. Paltidis participated in the discussion on “Insurance and Reinsurance of events and demonstrations”, led by Mr. Zlatan Filipovic of Bosna Re.
Debates at this year’s event focused on matters such as the region’s development as regards property insurance, the impact of catastrophic flooding, the role of insurance companies as institutional investors, as well as the current situation and trends in the segment of private pensions and life insurance.A delegation from Trust Re, including the underwriting and marketing team responsible for Africa, as well as the Company’s Morocco Representative Office General Manager, recently participated in the 42nd AIO Conference and General Assembly.
Held in Gammarth, Tunisia from 24th to 27th May 2015, the theme of the conference was “African Insurance in the face of Mass Events”.
The Conference and General Assembly was jointly hosted by the Fédération Tunisiennes des Sociétés d'Assurances (FTUSA) and Société Tunisienne de Réassurance (TUNIS RE).
Several hundred delegates attended and Trust Re had two specially-reserved meeting rooms in which to meet with business partners and clients.

Trust Re was proud to have participated in the recent FiAR 2015 as one of the main partners. Held between 17th and 21st May 2015 in Brasov, Romania the international insurance & reinsurance forum is one of the foremost European events dedicated to the insurance and reinsurance markets.
Delegates included leaders and specialists from the European reinsurance area and related disciplines including consultancy and audit.
On 19th May, Mr. Sinisa Lovrincevic, Branch General Manager Trust Re Cyprus was a speaker at the Reinsurance and Nat Cat workshop.
During the course of the conference, Mr. Lovrincevic spoke about the company's active presence in the Romanian market by saying "Romania is important to us and we will remain in this market for many years". He continued by mentioning Trust Re's development strategy which focuses on long term business partnerships.

The conference which had the theme of "Winds of Change", Challenges & Opportunities for the Insurance Industry in Emerging Markets was held between 19th and 21st April. Approximately 400 delegates from various sectors including banking, manufacturing and services attended. Moreover, the conference brought together internationally renowned local and foreign speakers from insurance & reinsurance companies as well as brokers and loss adjusters.
Trust Re's Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Kamal Tabaja, was part of a working session discussing Renewable Energy matters.

Mr. Lovrincevic took part in a panel discussion on the first day of the conference which covered four main topics, namely reinsurance capacities based on pooling agreements, Middle Eastern States as possible reinsurance markets, prospects of creating a reinsurance pool in Eurasian economic and customs union and recent trends in International Reinsurance in the context of BRICS countries.

The GAIF General Conference is a biannual event with hosting revolving between different Arab countries. This year the event took place from the 1st to the 4th of September 2014 in Sharm El Sheikh City, Egypt.
Trust Re Deputy CEO, Romel Tabaja, took part in a panel discussion about the current state of the insurance and reinsurance markets in the Middle East and North Africa.

The 39th conference of the African Insurance Organisation (AIO) had "Challenges and Opportunities of Micro Takaful and Micro Insurance in Africa" as its theme.
As platinum sponsor of the event, Trust Re hosted a seated dinner for over 400 conference participants that featured a variety of Sudanese cultural entertainment. During the conference, a significant number of participants visited the large Trust Re booth situated in the conference venue.

The conference, held once every two years in an Arab country, took place between 21st and 23rd May 2012 and Trust Re returned as a platinum sponsor.

This year's General Arab Insurance Federation (GAIF) conference is scheduled to be held between the 21st and 23rd of May, 2012 at the Palmeraie Golf Palace in Marrakech, Kingdom of Morocco.
"Insurance and the Arab World Reform" is the theme for this year's meeting, which will be held under the patronage of King Mohammed VI.
Over 1300 participants are expected to attend the three day programme of meetings and workshops. Trust Re will be hosting a dinner for participants on Tuesday 22nd May. Several of Trust Re's executive management and underwriting experts will be in attendance at the 29th GAIF Conference.

Trust Re was pleased to take part in the Willis Towers Watson China Renewable Energy Conference, held between 13 and 15 March 2018 in Hangzhou, China.
Melbourne Fonseca, Underwriter – Alternative Energy at Trust Re, delivered a presentation entitled “Sustainable Risk Transfer for a sustainable future: adapting to change”. Melbourne’s presentation included an overview of Trust Re and its capabilities in the Renewable Energy sector. He also covered other topics, including the One Belt One Road (OBOR) project, which is estimated to generate several billion dollars in insurance premiums up to 2030, and discussed the current and future state of renewable energy in China. Focus was given to the risk management challenges associated with the various means of renewable energy production.
